What is your role at Sigma Defense?

I am one of three Sigma Defense Technical Recruiters, with a primary focus in Training & Readiness.

When did you join Sigma’s team?

November of 2022. I am the newest Recruiter on the Talent Acquisition team.

What has your experience been with our company culture?

It has been a great experience. Sigma Defense is my fourth company since I retired in 2019 and is by far my most enjoyable company.

Why is that?

Two things come to mind. 1. I get paid for being on LinkedIn all day- which is likely what most people do during their workday, on and off. On a serious note, I get to use my knowledge and experience when I am looking for the right candidate/fit for a specific position to be filled. And at the core of what I do, I get to help people gain employment. 2. My team is great, and my boss is easy to work for and respect. Her expectation aligns with my philosophy, which is to do your job. I have always believed in letting your people do their jobs and ensuring they have the tools to do them.

What is your team like? What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team?

I mentioned great but let me elaborate. Our HR team is fully remote. We have teammates in three different time zones and in my short period with this team I have been impressed with our ability to produce results. While I don’t have the exact numbers, Sigma recruiting/hiring numbers have increased. Since most of my jobs are in the Training and Readiness department, I’ve noticed that T&R averages 4-5 hires per month. February could be our best month yet.

Which benefits are your favorite and why?

Health Reimbursement Account. It’s my favorite because this is the first company that I’ve ever had HRA. As mentioned, Sigma is my fourth company, five if you include the Navy, and it is the first time I’ve had an HRA.
